The host's card table under a hanging lamp: a deck of role cards, an hourglass, a brass bell, ballots and a pocket watch, the town's lights through the window

The host's rules

How it plays

Presets, timers, voting, ties and reveals: everything the host can change before the deal.

Players
6 to 14
Killers
2 up to 11 players, 3 from 12
Default times
3 min talk, 45 s vote, 45 s night

What it does

Start from a preset: Classic (the killers, the Police Officer, the Doctor and citizens), Quick (shorter timers), Full house (with the suggested extras) or Random (extras drawn in balance, the roles kept hidden). A balance meter shows whether the setup favours the town or the killers.

Then change any rule: the discussion, vote and night times; open or secret voting; ties; last words; what a voted-out player's or a night victim's card shows; kills on the first night; the Doctor's self-saves; the Lovers; the Lawyer's variant; the accusation board and the town's rumour; and whether the host plays or moderates.
