Readings from your phone

To move its needles and lights, the wallpaper reads your battery level, temperature and charging state, the power going into or out of the battery, how fast your CPU runs (its clock speed), your memory use, your mobile signal strength, your Wi-Fi signal strength, state and link speed, whether Bluetooth is on, and the date and time. The app doesn't read your Wi-Fi network's name, your contacts, your files or your phone number. The readings stay on your phone, are used only to draw the wallpaper, and aren't saved.

Location (GPS mode only)

The big gauge can show your speed using GPS. This is off until you choose GPS mode in Settings. The app then asks for location permission "while using the app", which Android also grants while the wallpaper is on your screen. The app never asks for location in the background. Your position is used on your phone only to work out your speed; it is not stored, not sent to us and not shared with anyone, including our advertising partner. You can switch GPS mode off, or take the permission away in your phone's settings, at any time.

Information stored on your device

The app saves your settings (gauge mode, units, which date, time and lights to show) and which designs you own. This stays in the app's storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

Analytics and crash reports

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Analytics tells us things like which screens and settings are used, so we can improve the app. Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes, so we can fix it. They collect an app instance identifier, your device model, operating system and language, your approximate country, and in-app events or crash details. They don't receive your location or your phone's readings. We use this only to improve the app, never to identify you or to show you ads. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Advertising

To keep the app free, its menu screens show a small banner ad delivered by Google AdMob. The live wallpaper on your home screen never shows ads. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

AdMob may automatically collect information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address (and the rough location it reveals), device model, operating system, language, and how you interact with ads. It uses it to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure results, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, to personalize ads. We don't receive this information about you personally.

Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before your data is used for personalized ads, using Google's consent tool. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for ads. You can change these choices at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy options. You can also reset your advertising ID or turn off ad personalization in your device's privacy or ads settings.

In-app purchases

Extra wallpaper designs can be bought in the app. The payment is handled entirely by Google Play under the Google Privacy Policy. We never see your payment details. The app only receives a confirmation that the purchase was made, so it can unlock the design.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.

Your rights

We don't hold your name, contact details or location, and analytics data isn't tied to them. If you have a question about your data or would like anything deleted, email us and we'll help as far as we can. For data collected by our advertising partner, use the links above or your device's ad settings.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this page and the date at the top.
